Résumé:
This work aims to test the technique of induction of conditioned aversion as a way of to avoid the
ingestion and, therefore, the poisoning by Ipomoea carnea in goats. In the 1st day of the experiment, 6
animals received separately I. carnea leaves, the amount not consumed was weighed and 4 animals were
treated with LiCl. The other two animals were not treated and served as control. The offering of the plant was
repeated in the 2nd and 3rd days, the goats that ingested any amount of the plant were treated again with LiCi.
To confirm the aversion all the animals were evaluated in 15 days. It was verified that in the second day of
the experiment, two of the four animals did not consume the plant anymore, maintaining themselves in this
way during the whole experimental period. In the third day only one animal ingested I. carnea, but on the 15th
day the 4 experimental animals were averted. The control group maintained the consumption during the
whole experimental period. The results obtained through this work revealed that the administration of LiCi
provokes aversion to I. carnea in goats, and can be recommended as a control form of this plant poisoning in
natural conditions.
