Validação do método FAMACHA© em ambiente semi-árido.

Abstract

This work had as objective to evaluate the use of FAMACHA© Method as an auxiliary strategy on the control of gastrintestinal helmintiasis of dairy goats naturally infected on the mesorregion of semi-arid paraibano. The study was developed in 12 months, in the districts of Água Branca, Desterro, Passagem, São José do Sabugi and São Mamede, all belonging to the mesorregion of semi-arid paraibano. Were used 30 dairy goats of each district for month, totaling 1800 animals for year. All animals were being submitted to the same breeding scheme (semi-intensive). In each animal was realized fecal parasitologic exams according to the technique of Gordon & Whitlock (1939), the Hematocrit was realized according to the methodology described for Matos & Matos (1988) and the observation of the color of ocular conjunctiva mucosal trough the FAMACHA© card. In each collection of each city, were realized the larvae culture according to the technique of Roberts & O’Sullivan (1950). The FAMACHA© Method presented an hit average of 86,20% after the first quarter. The utilization showed effectiveness on the control of the helmintiasis and economy of 70,58% on the use of anthelmintics on the herds of dairy goats of semi-arid paraibano. The Haemonchus sp. was the most prevalent helminth gender in all larvae culture. The FAMACHA© Method showed viable as auxiliary strategy on the control of gastrintestinal helmintiasis of diary goats on the semi-arid paraibano.
