Water scarcity is recurrent in many parts of the world, being common in semiarid lands,
where rainfall is irregular, evaporation is high, and groundwater is limited. In this research,
the main objective was to present a technical and economic analysis on the feasibility of
catching and storing rainwater for "Irmãos Rolim" Ceramic Enterprise, located in São João do
Rio do Peixe - PB, semiarid Brazil. This ceramic enterprise has an extensive coverage area in
a single building, which brings technical difficulties for the design of rainwater catchment
systems. The methodology consisted of surveying data about the studied object and proposing
a technically adequate solution for the implantation of a system for catching and storing
rainwater. In addition, a cost survey was conducted in order to verify the financial
compatibility for the installation of the aforementioned project. The results showed that it is
technically and economically possible to install a rainwater catchment system that meets the
demands of "Irmãos Rolim" Ceramic Enterprise, considering only 25% of the covered area.
Hence, the circumstances of the project suggest the need for an investment of R$ 20,639.62,
indicating that the return on investment would occur in less than a year, disregarding
maintenance and pumping costs.
