Résumé:
With the phenomenon of prominent urban growth, the dimensions of
environmental problems became worrying, along with population growth and changes in
habits. In this perspective, the present article addresses topics related to sustainable
development in the university city of Sumé-PB, research line that is part of the extension
project - PROBEX 2017 entitled: Reduction of electronic waste in the city of Sumé,
applying the methodology of 3R's (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle). For this, it was initially
done, elaboration and application of questionnaires, in order to make a diagnosis about
the environmental education of the population of the municipality under study;
Conducting a semi-structured interview with the secretary responsible for garbage
collection and street cleaning services; And report request, regarding the amount of
garbage collected by the company responsible to next propose mitigating actions that
help in the preservation of natural resources and reduction of the inadequate emission
of waste. Based on this, it is proposed that there be a planning in the public policies of
the municipality regarding the exposed problem, taking into account sustainable
development, such as awareness actions with the population, with young students,
merchants, civil servants.
