Abstract:
Dengue is a systemic acute viral disease caused by a flavivirus that belongs to the Flaviviridae family and has four serotypes (DEN 1, 2, 3 and 4). The virus is transmitted by the mosquito Aedes aegypti which is distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of the world such as Southeast Asia, South Pacific, East Africa, Caribbean and Latin America, predominantly in urban and semi- urban areas. The mosquito control is done primarily through the use of chemical insecticides. However, with the emergence of resistance among mosquitoes, the search for new insecticidal substances is needed. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the pesticide potential of liquid waste from Agave sisalana, determining its lethality on pupae of the Aedes aegypti. As a result it was observed that the liquid waste from sisal has no activity against Aedes aegypti pupae.
