Resumo:
With the urban and industrial development of cities, as well as demographic advancement,
mitigation measures needed to be evaluated to contain the imbalance between preservation
and exploitation of natural resources. Thus, the 2030 Agenda constituted an action plan with
measures to achieve 17 SDGs, which play an important role for leadership
of local governments, providing, based on the Sustainable Development Index of
Cities – Brazil (IDSC-BR), evaluate the local situation of municipalities, identifying
needs and resources. Therefore, this work aimed to analyze the IDSC of the
municipality of Sousa, in the state of Paraíba, highlighting the SDGs achieved and those that
present challenges to be achieved, as well as suggesting public policies to be
implemented with the aim of reducing these adversities. The research is descriptive
exploratory, documentary and quantitative, based on data collected from IDSC BR in partnership with Sustainable Development Solution Network (SDSN) between the years of
2010 to 2020. As a result observed, the level of sustainable development of the scenario
of study is low, and its position in terms of classification within the state of Paraíba,
Compared to neighboring cities, it is quite unsatisfactory. Of the 17 SDGs, only the Industry SDG,
Innovation and Infrastructure was achieved, while all others presented some challenges
to reach the appropriate threshold. Therefore, the municipality did not present favorable results,
demonstrating difficulty in applying their public policies. Given the limitations of the
work, the absence of updated data on programs and projects with characteristics of
SDG was the most relevant.
