Resumo:
Municipal public policies play a crucial role in promoting the well-being and development of local communities. In this context, this article seeks to
carry out a case study on the implementation of public policies aimed at the elderly in
city of Sousa/PB. The article maintains a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory approach
carried out through bibliographical research. Furthermore, a questionnaire was prepared and
applied to a qualified employee, a social worker, who works at the
Social Assistance Reference (CRAS) in order to identify their perceptions about policies
existing public services and the specific needs faced to improve quality
of life for the elderly. Given the results, it is possible to observe that the public policies offered
for the elderly are cultural and educational activities, as well as the social body maintains partnerships
with religious institutions that work with the elderly, another point observed would be that the
most relevant challenge encountered in the execution of public policies is the shortage of professionals
that can contribute positively to the lives of elderly people who seek CRAS. It is necessary
that there is on the part of the Municipal Manager the investiture of selection processes, competitions
public services and thus the services offered can be expanded.
