Resumen:
The present study sought to analyze the students' perception of the leadership style of the
professors at Campus João Pessoa of the Federal Institute of Paraíba (IFPB). Data collection
was performed through an online questionnaire (survey), developed and structured in Google
Forms. Data were processed using the SPSS software and analyzed using basic descriptive
statistics, such as frequency, mean and standard deviation. In the results, there was a final
sample of 121 respondents (n=121), of which 48.8% were female. It was observed that 37.1%
are aged between 31 and 40 years. It is noted that 45.4% of respondents are married, 65.3% of
respondents have a monthly family income between R$ 1,320.01 – R$ 3,960.00 and 52.9% are
students of the Bachelor of Business Administration course. The results still demonstrate
relevance in the addressed theme, as it was observed that the teaching leadership style with the
highest adherence rate in relation to the other styles in the João Pessoa Campus of the IFPB is
the transactional leadership. However, it should be noted that this study has limitations as it is
based only on the perception of students, in the sense that they tend to focus on selective aspects
for their benefit and interpret the performance of professors in the way that suits them to justify
their performance in the face of the teaching process. Finally, as a suggestion for future
research, it is advisable to carry out a study on the theory of leadership traits, in a more
comprehensive way, so that the leadership profile of managers and/or coordinators of courses
at Campus João can be understood. Person from the Federal Institute of Paraíba (IFPB) or from
other campuses of this important educational institution, seeking to disseminate the theme of
teaching leadership.
