Abstract:
The accelerated population expansion, combined with the lack of urban planning, has been one of the aspects responsible for socio-environmental impacts experienced over time: destruction of springs, communities in risk areas, extinction of animal species, erosion, flooding, landslides, climate, among others. others. This research has a qualitative exploratory and narrative nature. Aiming to discuss the socio-environmental impacts of urbanization and environmental impact on a periphery in the municipality of Alagoa Nova - PB. To collect primary data, the technique called Field Diary was used. Secondary data were collected through image recording, which enabled better observation of the evolution of the communities studied. For the same interpretation of the data, content analysis was applied focusing on the experience of the subjects involved in the research. The results show: risks
of environmental disasters in the community; highlight social indicators of vulnerability; and, danger through land displacement and flooding. It can be concluded that, given the situation presented in the research, it was possible to discuss the socio-environmental impacts on urbanization and the environmental impact on a periphery of the municipality of Alagoa Nova - PB, as well as understanding the role of municipal public authorities in solving these problems.
