Resumen:
This research aims to develop reading and comprehension skills through orality, focusing on the genres "causo" and "cordel." We believe that the dialogue between school contents and students' everyday experiences will lead to successful outcomes in the process of reading and understanding texts, as it addresses the reality lived by the learners. This study is mainly grounded in the perspective of literacy, considering the students' social practices and the theoretical contributions of Marcuschi and Dionísio (2007), Carvalho and Ferrerazi (2018), Soares (2022), Kleiman (1995), Geraldi (1996), Solé (2014), Cosson (2021), Cascudo (2006), and Marinho and Pinheiro (2012). It is bibliographic research with a qualitative approach, as it considers the dynamic relationship between the real world and the individual. It is also explanatory, seeking to explain the relevance of orality and social practices in the educational context for the development of reading and comprehension of texts. Furthermore, it is of applied nature, as we present a proposal for pedagogical intervention through an activity booklet as a result of our research. The booklet consists of five workshops for reading and comprehension of texts, based on Cosson's basic sequence (2021), using the oral genres "causo" and "cordel." It is intended to support 6th-grade teachers in the Elementary School classroom. With this initiative, we aim to broaden the possibilities for reading and understanding texts and contribute to the teaching and learning process.
