Résumé:
This is the historical study of the entire process of struggle of rural peoples for a dignified
rural education, through the social movements that are active in our country. The research
seeks to understand the formation of the agrarian space, exploring the development of Escola
João Izidro de Sousa as a rural school and the challenges faced by collaborators. The
relevance of this research resides in the approach to the struggles of social and union
movements that influenced public policies in favor of quality education in rural areas. using a
qualitative approach, the research employs bibliographical and documentary analysis to
explore the historical context and the registration of rural schools, building theoretical
reflections with potential practical applicability. With the study it is possible to follow the
historical and political development of the Brazilian agrarian space, from colonization to the
beginning of the modernization of agriculture. The improvement of education and living
conditions emerges as crucial demands of rural communities, seeking attention through
public policies influenced by social movements throughout history. These policies aim to
address social issues and contradictions resulting from capital accumulation in the
countryside. Education plays a crucial role as a starting point for driving social change.
