Resumo:
Nowadays, the increasing trend of ubiquitous access to information has created necessity for new flexible network architectures. These new architectures are referred to as wireless ad hoc networks. A wireless ad hoc networks is a collection of nodes, wich creates dynamically a network with no fixed structure nor centralized management. Such
networks are characterized by a dynamic topology and by devices with limited resources (energy, processing capacity and memory). Due to the dynamic conditions of the environment, especially indoor environments, it’s very difficult to assure performance in these
networks. Recently, in order to increase efficiency in data delivery, there have been several works related to the development of routing protocols that make their decisions based on routes quality metrics. The most part of these works are related to the use of a cross-layer
architecture. The cross-layer architectures employs interactions betwen the protocol layers to obtain quality informations. The interest of this project is the study of a quality metric for the routes and use it on the development of a routing protocol for wireless sensor networks (WSN), using the IEEE 802.15.4 standard.
