Resumo:
Medicinal plants are those used in the preparation of medicines. Thousands of plant
species are used all over the world in the preparation of home remedies. These uses
come from the popular or traditional knowledge of each country. Popular knowledge is
the most widespread among people, such as tea leaves grown in gardens. Traditional
knowledge, on the other hand, comes from ancestry. However, scientific knowledge is
still little known, creating a knowledge gap mainly among youth and adult education
students, making work necessary to approach the subject in a deeper way, considering
the reality of learning in this class. The objective of this work was to carry out a case
study on the subject of medicinal plants, a qualitative and quantitative study, such as a
survey, to carry out a survey of empirical data on the subject at the municipal school
São José Lajes Pintadas-RN, and to develop pedagogical activities (Classes,
conversation circles, questionnaire) that contribute to the teaching and learning process
and assess the level of knowledge about the subject, and show the results in graph and
table. The data were obtained and worked according to descriptive statistics in the
Excel® program, among the main results, the plant that is most cultivated is boldo
(Peumus boldos) 26%, and the least is Babosa (Aloe vera) 6%, 73 % of the participants
have the habit of growing plants, in relation to the properties that help in the medicine,
60% mentioned the omega, already on a herbal medicine, 53% answered Diporone. It
was possible to notice a difficulty in assimilating the scientific names of the plants, but
there was an evolution in terms of learning about some concepts of properties such as
the Active ingredient.
