Resumo:
Human sexuality is a subject that is still little explored and full of taboos in regard to
its study. It is a human condition that is built throughout the life of the individual, beginning
in childhood and influenced by several factors, such as cultural, biological, psychological,
social, political and religious The objective of this study was to compare the sexual behavior
and the factors associated with high-risk sexual behavior, as well as conceptions about Sex
Education, among undergraduate students in biological sciences of the Federal University of
Campina Grande, Campus Cuité. Students were assessed for age, gender, religious beliefs,
participation in programs, Sex Education disciplines, and place of residence before entering
university. The age of onset of sexual activity, use of contraceptive methods, number of
sexual partners and use of condoms in STI / AIDS prevention were evaluated. Undergraduate
students of the Biological Sciences Course, of the 1st, 3rd and 7th period of the day shift were
research subjects. The final sample consisted of 64 students. The data collection instrument
was a self-administered questionnaire in the students' classroom. The analysis was done in
Microsoft Office Excel 2010 software, by basic descriptive statistics (Absolute and relative
frequency distribution). Regarding the results, it was observed that the sexual abstinence
behavior is more present among the youngest students of the research and as the age group
was increased plus a sexual conduct of risk was observed. Almost 70% of the students
enrolled in the Biological Sciences Course, with an active sexual life, have conduct
considered as unsafe sex, associated with the variables living with a partner or friend, low or
no frequency of religious worship, and greater age. There was a significant difference in
behavioral characteristics between students from different periods. Lower age, higher
frequency of religious worship and living with parents were associated with sexual
abstinence. Students who participated in programs on Sex Education stated that orientation
had great efficacy have had a more secure sexual behavior to a greater extent than those who
did not. However, among sexually active students, there was a predominance of unsafe sex.
