Abstract

This study has as its central theme the limits and possibilities for the Social Worker to act within the scope of the Social Assistance policy in the Bolsonaro Government. In this way, the period comprising the Bolsonaro government was used as the temporal environment of analysis, that is, between 2019 and 2022. For this purpose, as it is a bibliographical work, the social and historical characterization of the Assistance Policy was promoted. Social Assistance in Brazil, reaching the context of the dismantling of the Social Assistance Policy in the Bolsonaro government, with emphasis on the limits and possibilities of the professional work of the Social Worker in the midst of the dismantling of the Social Assistance Policy. In this sense, the execution of this study had the general objective of understanding how and why the Bolsonaro Government attacked the Social Assistance Policy and its effects on the limits and possibilities of the professional performance of the Social Worker. To legitimize the research, a literature review is necessary, seeking to dialogue, in a dialectical way, with authors who discuss the theme. For this, we will rely on the theoretical collaboration of authors who discuss these axes, such as: Mioto and Nogueira (2013), Iamamoto and Carvalho (2014), Behring and Boschetti (2018), Faleiros (2018), Oliveira (2021), Cruz ( 2022), among others, contributed to the construction of the main theoretical framework, in line with the established methodological proposal, that is, the execution of a bibliographic work, guided by the theoretical, methodological and scientific principles of an analytical approach. Thus, from the execution of this study, it was possible to understand the relationship between the ethical-political project of Social Work and the interests of the Brazilian State, as well as the role of the Social Worker and the theoretical axis of the Social Work Policy, including , with regard to the consequences for the area in the context of the pandemic caused by Covid-19.
