Resumo:
The prison situation in Brazil is a topic that society struggles to address, largely due
to the daily confrontations among inmates and their inability to access fundamental
human rights. This critical need for change in the prison facilities has been a cause of
great concern for those who pay attention to this system, whether they have firsthand
experience or are outsiders looking in. As a result, the overarching goal of this work
was to analyze the structure and influence of the Brazilian prison system on inmates.
To achieve this, we employed an exploratory research approach, utilizing deductive
methods. During our research, we adopted a systemic approach, with the assistance
of historical and comparative data. Through this study, we were able to develop an
evolving understanding of the penal framework and the progression of inmate
assistance. Additionally, the pervasive occurrence of negative treatment towards
inmates has become so normalized within society. Lastly, it was clearly established
that the lack of adherence to human rights has led to numerous psychological
disorders. Unfortunately, both politicians and the Brazilian population at large are
unable to see the numerous flaws in our penal system, resulting in a significant lack
of improvements and attention.
