Abstract

This research is a study on the association between politics and religion in the Democratic State of Law - specifically in Brazil -, analyzing the performance and its possible contributions to human rights, as well as the interference of the church in matters political-legal. This monograph has the general objective of analyzing the interference of religion – and church – in political and legal agendas in the Brazilian Democratic State of Law highlighting its influence on the development of society and human and fundamental rights. With regard to specific objectives, the monograph aims to expose the insertion of man in the political sphere as a human and fundamental right, highlight the social benefits from the association between politics and religion, discuss secularism in the public sphere and in the constitutional spectrum, discuss secularism in the public sphere and in the constitutional spectrum. To achieve these objectives, the inductive method was used, using documentary and bibliographic research techniques, characterizing the general objective as exploratory and descriptive, with a qualitative approach through the following procedures: historical, explanatory. We sought to analyze, through a qualitative case study, the votes of evangelical parliamentarians on issues involving human and fundamental rights. Finally, this research found that there is an association between politics and religion, because when man exercises his faith, he exercises it by influencing all areas of his life, including politics. However, there must be an institutional separation between Church and State which, in most cases, uses his morality and ethics thinking about propagating his belief, however, in some cases, this constitutes an obstacle to the rights of those who do not believe.
