Abstract:
The research carried out aims to investigate the relevance of gender equality policies
and the rights of the LGBTQIAP+ population as fundamental pillars for the promotion
of human rights in Brazil, seeking to demonstrate their relationship with the
construction of a truly egalitarian and inclusive society in light of the analysis of the
impacts of these policies in different areas of society. In this way, the research carried
out aims to highlight responses to human rights violations that are practiced against
the LGBTQIAP+ community in the country, presenting aspects related to challenges
and obstacles that still persist to propose solutions, with verification of governmental
and non-governmental policies that contributed to advance the LGBTQIAP+ cause.
The research methodology has a qualitative approach, faced with the analysis of the
understanding of phenomenologies that come into conflict with legal aspects of rights
protection, regarding the research objectives, exploratory and descriptive methods
were adopted, seeking to make it clearer and more evident the study, using
bibliographic and documentary procedures, through consultation of doctrines, scientific
articles and legislation. The research problem consists of the question whether gender
equality policies and LGBTQIAP+ rights can have significant impacts on the
construction of a more just and egalitarian society in the face of the challenges and
obstacles of stigma and solidification of the discriminatory thinking of a large part of
the population. Given the results, it was possible to conclude that even with the
advances of recent decades, the fight for LGBTQIAP+ rights must still persist, with a
long way to go, with specific areas that still require attention, given that even with the
approval of laws and creations of public policies, many rights are still not implemented
as they should in society, with the need to develop consistent public policies that
combat the invisibility of these people and that promote education in human rights as
a policy to combat discrimination and respect basic rights in in favor of protection and
dignity for the LGBTQIAP+ community.
