Abstract:
With the objective of analyzing the spatial accessibility in the Federal University of Campina Grande Campus Campina Grande (UFCG-CG), from the current norms, such as the Brazilian Norm of accessibility (NBR 9050), with emphasis on the inclusion of people with physical disabilities. This scientific research begins and ends simultaneously with the academic period of 2022.2 of UFCG. Thus, the study begins by addressing universities, which are also spaces that act in the scope of professional training, having a lot of relevance for societies, because they research on the existing contradictions and also work with teaching and extension programs. However, these spaces still do not serve the population equally. As well, even though there are affirmative policies and, although there is access of minorities to Higher Education, there are still many difficulties for them to access remain in such spaces. The study uses qualitative research from the case study, using bibliographical and documentary analyses, as well as a photographic collection involving the spaces used by student users of wheelchairs, which helped in the identification of accessible and inaccessible objects at UFCG-CG. Among the results, we highlight that the lack of a more technical follow-up, with regard to the architectural production and the maintenance of the university space, still do not follow the current norms, which causes a series of barriers, mainly physical that, in a certain way, inhibit the effective citizen participation of the person with physical disabilities, and it is up to UFCG to carry out a structural reassessment to compose the current accessibility standards. In addition, there are budgetary problems arising from the financial cuts for education in recent years, but these cannot dispense with the need for inclusive education policies at UFCG and ensure priorities in the implementation of the same.
