Abstract:
This article sought to understand a little about the issue of entrepreneurship and the difficulties caused to entrepreneurs and employees of the private sector in the municipality of Serra Branca, in Paraíba, during the covid-19 pandemic. The general objective is: to analyze the economic impacts of the covid-19 pandemic for entrepreneurs in the municipality of Serra Branca-PB. The specific ones are: contextualizing entrepreneurship and some aspects of the covid-19 pandemic in business terms; demonstrate the negative consequences for companies in Serra Branca-PB during the pandemic; and, assess the main economic impacts of the pandemic on the local economy. As for the methodology of the study, it was characterized as a descriptive, exploratory, qualitative research, with case study and bibliographic review. For this, publications on the subject, such as articles and dissertations, were used to evaluate the impacts caused by the pandemic; as well, data collection was performed through interviews with open and closed questions, made available to entrepreneurs and workers in the municipality of Serra Branca-PB. After the analyses, it was observed that the companies of the municipality of Serra Branca, suffered losses in their operation and billing in the pandemic period (2020-2022), due to the mandatory restrictions established by the spheres of government, where according to the survey, the most affected were the employees who suffered layoffs and had to migrate to other branches, in addition to the owners of commercial establishments, who could not work at their maximum capacity.
