Resumo:
Socializing the knowledge generated in the Academy with family farmers is an important face to
promote sustainability in rural areas, although there is still much lack of professionals who can
provide technical assistance and guidance to farmers. The paper presents results of extension
activities, developed over eight months, along with family farmers and rural communities Riachão
Pitombeira, the municipality of Sumé, Cariri. Wheels of prose, seminars and workshops were
organized, emphasizing the application of participatory methodologies. The goal was to socialize,
popularize and disseminate knowledge on sustainable use of natural resources, with particular
attention to the soils of the region, considering the advancement of degradation of soil resources and
the urgency of disseminating conservation practices to minimize harmful impacts on the
environment, as well to encourage the activities of agroecological production. The lectures and
experiences were organized in two associations, alternating the implementation of each practice,
according to the schedule of meetings. All activities took place in an atmosphere of fellowship and
joy, opportunity in which students were able to experience and share with social actors academic
knowledge, and experience to do it and the knowledge of the agricultural population, expanding the
dialogue to strengthen the agro-ecological transition in the region, however, it is clear the need for
support from the technical advisory bodies to disseminate knowledge and improve the quality of life
of farmers.
