This research deals with the use of color in children's digital games, aimed at children aged 7 to 8 years. The objective of this work is to analyze the use of color in children's digital games, seeking to contribute to optimizing visual information in the context of the study of mathematics content as a pedagogical strategy. The method used for the development of the research is exploratory and descriptive, with a qualitative approach and composed of the analysis of 24 children's digital games. Based on the adopted methodology, the following steps were taken to compose the research: analysis of children's digital games; processing and interpretation of data; and proposal of guidelines for the use of color in game design. In the development of the analyzes, the color function categorization tool developed by Menezes and Pereira (2017) was used, the game websites were accessed to record images, followed by clippings for detailing the color functions that comprise three large groups, namely: perceptive functions, indicative functions and representative functions, subdivided into ten more specific functions. The analyzes were carried out from the observation of the initial screen and the following screens for the execution of the proposed activities, aiming to perceive the information related to the perception and meaning of color during the use of digital games. Concluding the analysis process, recommendations were proposed for the use of color in children's digital games. Concluding the analysis process, it was observed that in relation to the perceptive functions, the harmonizing function, followed by the attracting and organizing functions are the most representative in the set of pedagogical games analyzed. The least representative function and which presented the most problems in its use was maintaining legibility and visibility. The analysis carried out enabled the identification of positive and negative uses of color and directed the proposition of suggestions for the use of color in the graphic design of children's digital games.
