Resumo:
The soil sustains life on Earth and so far no other planet has been found
with a similar substrate that meets the criteria that Science identiies as necessary to
maintain life as we perceive it. Despite this, the solo theme is still little worked outside the
academic and research spaces, such as in basic education. It is known that the discourse
and scientiic research produced by and for specialists, through the popularization of
science, reaches the different communities, but the absence of the approach on the
soil still in the different spaces still constitutes one of the major challenges of Science
of the Ground. Searching for the dissemination of concepts about the importance of
soil in the school environment can be an important strategy to approach the knowledge
and promote the formation of a ‘pedological awareness’, focused on the care with
this valuable environmental resource that sustains life. Considering that active and
playful methodologies contribute to the development, sensitization and improvement
of students’ abilities regarding environmental issues, the objective is to relect on the
relevance of puppet theater as a signiicant pedagogical strategy for the popularization
of soil education in schools. The activities are developed at the UFCG, Sumé campus
(PB), in schools, associations, municipal spaces and in rural communities. The Teatrinho
do Solo proposal has been contributing to Soil Education, evidencing that allying the
pedology to the pedagogical practice in the spaces of non-formal education as well as
in the basic education results to contribute to the sensitization of the participants.
