Abstract:
Student dropout is a recurring problem in institutions around the world and occurs at all levels
of education. In this context, it is crucial to understand the trends and factors that impact student
attrition, thus enabling the identification of more effective strategies and policies to keep
students in their courses. Data analysis provides a clearer view of the challenges faced by
educational institutions and emphasizes the need for interventions aimed at promoting academic
success and mitigating attrition. There are numerous Education scholars who focus year after
year with the intention of diminishing the effects caused by this phenomenon and find answers
to the questions: How to keep students? And how to do this? From these questions this work
aimed to analyze, understand and seek possible answers and solutions that help in the
permanence of those entering the degree courses of the Universidade Federal de Campina
Grande (UFCG) in the 10-year period that includes the periods 2013.1 to 2022.2, based on the
data presented to the site of the Pró-Reitoria de Ensino (PRE) of the current institution.
