Resumo:
This work deals with anarchism and the labor movement during the First Republic. Recovering the history of anarchism is necessary both so that we can discuss the history of the labor movement and the struggle of Brazilian workers, and to highlight issues of great importance on the subject, such as the varied meanings of the word anarchy according to who pronounces it, the idea of “anarchist danger” proclaimed by the dominant classes, the workers’ struggle along the path of revolutionary syndicalism and the anarchist resistance that was present both in the daily life of factories and within the Brazilian anarchist movement in the period in question. Based on an analysis of official speeches and a bibliographical review, the main objective of this work is to discuss the meanings of anarchy and the struggle of workers during the First Republic through the rescue of the history of Anarchism in Brazil between 1889 and 1930. In this way , it will be possible to perceive the confrontation and libertarian ideology present in the labor movement and among anarchists during the First Republic of Brazil, a subject of great relevance both for the history of workers at the time, and for the struggle for justice today.
