In a scenario where organizations are inserted in such a competitive market, inventory management becomes a strategic tool in the differentiation process, since managing assets is crucial to business success. Despite its diverse contribution, this function is challenging for managers, in this sense, the use of software for modeling and simulation presents itself as a facilitator in the process of understanding the behavior of productive activities, formulating hypotheses and predicting the effects arising from changes. eventually carried out. In this sense, the present study aims to identify the simulation software most used in the business environment to solve inventory problems. To this end, the literature is explored following the guidelines of a systematic literature review, in order to reinforce the business, as well as academic, benefits that the link between inventory management and computer simulation provide in the production process. As a result of the study, it is possible to state that at the time of this research, the simulation software most used to solve inventory management problems are: Arena (32.5%), FlexSim (10%) and Vensim (5%). Numerous studies reinforce the relevance of simulation software, as well as mixed modeling for optimization in inventory environments. This statement is validated by applications found in the literature, which suggest advantageous tools for replication in the inventory environment. Finally, the study differs from others by presenting a research agenda to deepen studies in the area, given that a gap identified was the scarcity of work in Brazil and around the world.
