Abstract:
To understand the ancient and contemporary contextual challenges faced in the
work process of Community Health Agents (CHA) in the municipality of Jardim do Seridó -
RN. Methodology: Exploratory descriptive study with a qualitative approach carried out with
12 Community Health Agents intentionally selected. The interviews were transcribed into a
textual corpus format for processing in the IRAMUTEQ software, organized based on the
Descending Hierarchical Classification (DHC) and analyzed using the Content Analysis
technique. Results: The textual corpus consisted of 12 texts and 242 text segments, with an
accuracy rate of 80.17%. The dendrogram was composed of the classes: Class 5 “The dialogic
relationship between CHA, health services and the community”; Class 1 “The performance of
the CHA: memories of the path of struggles for the consolidation of the category”; Class 4 “The
challenge of building and strengthening bonds between the CHA and the community”; Class 6
“From link to noose: the multidisciplinary configuration of the CHA’s professional practice”;
Class 3 “Persistently facing difficulties in carrying out home visits”; and Class 2 “The biases of
decisive communication: technologies, rights and limits”. Final considerations: It was possible
to realize that these professionals face a series of challenges in carrying out their duties, including
contextual difficulties such as adverse weather conditions, precarious infrastructure,
geographical distances and other logistical barriers, in addition to dealing daily with factors that
affect their mental health and physical.
