Resumo:
In the 50s and 60s of the 20th century, movements primarily dedicated to basic education and popular culture broke out in Brazil, narrowing this conjuncture the gaze turns to the Northeast and Center-West regions of the country, historically marked by social inequalities, a forgotten field mainly with the developmental path of the current governments. Social transformations come with literacy projects, even with a timid attitude. In the region we know today as the Northeast, some programs were present, however, one stands out for its social, political, cultural and most often religious character: The Radio Schools and the Basic Education Movement. In the Sertão do Pajeú Pernambucano, the focus of this work, this experience sociologically trans-formed the Rural Communities, bringing knowledge not only of letters and numbers, but of basic education: political, social and cultural. Through this uprising, the region began to organ-ize itself into: Associations, Cooperatives and Unions, all initially linked to the Catholic Apos-tolic Church based in Rome. Our general objective was to identify the contribution of radio schools in Afogados de Ingazeira - PE for the teaching of Sociology in the context of the basic education movement through the memories of the subjects who experienced the movement in the Region of Pajeú Pernambucano. Our specific objectives are based on: 1. Understanding the historical-political, social and economic context in which the Escolas Radiofônicas and the Basic Education Movement emerged in the Region of Pajeú Pernambucano; 2. Learn the con-cepts of education, sociology and social transformation present in the Basic Education Move-ment, 3. Mapping of Radiophonic Schools in the Region of Sertão do Pajeú Pernambucano, 4. Understand the importance of the concept of memory in the field of sociology. All these guide-lines are the bases that made Pajeú be recognized as the most politicized region of Pernambuco. In the course of this dissertation those who will carry out the reading will understand the reason. But, above all, they will know that social transformations were only possible through basic education. Paraphrasing Paulo Freire: Education changed the subjects of Pajeú and the subjects of Pajeú transform their social reality.
