Resumen:
The research deals with Field Education, Sexual Education and Natural Sciences teaching. To understand the issue, answers to the central question were sought: how is Sexual Education discussed in Science classes in a Field Education School? The general objective of the investigation was to understand how Sexual Education is discussed in Natural Sciences classes in an elementary school class at a Field Education School in the Cariri region of Paraíba. The specific objectives were: (i) to identify how Sexual Education is discussed in the Science classes of the participating class; and (ii) to understand what students and teachers think about Sexual Education. This study was carried out with the participation of 06 students from the 8th year of Elementary School from a Field Education School and 01 teacher from the Natural Sciences area who works in the participating class. Data was produced through a “conversation round” with the students and teacher and a semi-structured interview with the teacher. Results indicate that students fear studying Sexual Education at school, as they find it difficult to talk about that to their families. The teacher indicates having worked with the issue and points out its relevance for the students’ education. This study opens up possibilities for studying sexual diversity and combating sexual violence in schools, as well as highlights the importance of working on the specificity of Field Education in all themes and areas of knowledge.
