Résumé:
The research presented here has as object of study the school agents of the municipality of
Fortaleza - Ceará and as an analysis unit the project to combat school dropout developed by
the Municipal Department of Education of Fortaleza. Its general objective is to analyze the
implication of the insertion of these agents in the school environment of the teaching units of
the municipal network of Fortaleza, especially those located in the Conjunto Ceará
neighborhood. To this end, it sought to understand the dynamics of practical learning for the
performance of their functions, the techniques and strategies of interaction with the
community of students and their families, as well as to analyze how school agents perceive
their role of social mediation and the results they have achieved with their work from August
2021 to December 2022. This is qualitative exploratory research. As methodological
procedures, interviews were conducted with school agents. The research highlights positive
and negative aspects faced by school agents and concludes that, despite the difficulties, the
program has fulfilled the role of controlling school infrequency and, consequently, avoiding
the phenomenon of school dropout. It also emphasizes the importance of the work of school
agents in the construction of relationships with the students' families.
