Résumé:
The electrical breakdown of epoxy resin castings in divergent electric fields has been studied. A pin-plane electrode geometry has been used with the radius of curvature of the pin extremity being approximately 50ym. Measured breakdown voltages have been in the 30 - 40 KV r.m.s. range, and times to breakdown between 3 to 600 minutes. The critical electric field for breakdown has been calculed to be 3 x 10 8 V/m.
