Abstract:
This essay discusses the perspectives of Gender and Sexuality linked to the school context and what implications permeate the social relations culturally constructed in the device of sexuality, referring to the allusion of Diversity as a spreader mechanism of respect and demystification of prejudice. We did individual interviews in municipal and private schools, with teachers from the Elementary Education, early and late years. Bardin, Bourdieu, Foucault, Rousseau, Santana. The results indicated that, although the irrefutable majority believe that the school should carry out discussion work about sexuality, there is a gap between what is foreseen in the Curricular National Parameters and what actually happens in the school institution, inexorably. The nonexistence of a work that includes discussion about gender and sexuality, reflects the perpetuation abusive and prejudiced practices, corresponding to occasional work which is not involves all faculty. It was also evidenced an exponential gap in terms of training to deal with gender, sexuality and diversity issues in the school. When faced with certain situations, there is a certain resistance on the part of teachers in dealing with such issues, teachers use their experiences and personal opinions and especially they justify that there must be work on corroboration with the Family, and the themes emphasized are the prevention of sexual abuse of child, discriminatory practices and health problems. Other topics such as sexual diversity and prejudice take a secondary space. There is a silence about the affective and pleasant dimension of sexuality, which seems to distance the discourse of teachers. The results focused on the need to: (a) incorporate the studies of gender and sexuality in undergraduate courses; (b) training activities in the area including discussions on the historical and cultural roots and affective bases of the prejudices; and (c) the introduction of an integrated approach of combating pedophilia and sexism. The discussion presents theoretical and practical implications of this research, going through historical, cultural and social contexts.
