Differential equations are of great importance because they are present in various areas of kno-
wledge and are widely recognized. Its equations are essential tools for modeling physical phe-
nomena, engineering problems and various other fields where they are needed. The aim of this
work is to review the literature, making it possible to verify the difficulties and strategies invol-
ved in teaching and learning Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs). Initially, a little is cove-
red about the historical development of equations, describing their main precursors, general
notions about teaching and learning and Mathematical Modeling as a teaching methodology.
To develop this work, we selected some articles and dissertations published between 2017 and
2022 that cover the subject. The works were organized and analyzed in a way that involved
teaching methods and strategies or evaluations of the methods used. The study was essential
for learning about resources and strategies that can contribute to the teaching and learning of
differential equations.
