Resumo:
The research focuses on the functional integration between a Paralympic center and a public leisure park, based on a case study of Parque da Liberdade in Campina Grande, Paraíba. Its general objective is to develop a preliminary architectural study for the expansion and renovation of the multipurpose sports arena at Parque da Liberdade, with emphasis on its suitability for people with disabilities. The specific objectives are to diversify the available uses of the arena and facilitate the possibility of simultaneous activities (function); explore the visual integration between indoor and uncovered outdoor spaces (form); prioritize construction solutions compatible with the existing building (technique). To achieve this, the research is based on literature review, documentary research, and fieldwork on the existing arena, as well as technical standarts and related design projects. It concludes that through expansion and renovation, it is possible to make the current structure more integrated with the outdoor spaces and more inviting to users.
