In recent years, there has been an expansion of technological resources used by all age groups, which hás been intensified in their usage during the pandemic. The consequence of this usage has intensified among children and adolescents through access to technological equipment. The warning is about the excess of screen time, as childhood is marked by self-discovery and social development. Thus, dependence on digital resources can pose risks to the physical, mental, and behavioral health of children, as well as compromise social interaction with other children and adults. This study aims to identify the impacts of excessive screen time through a systematic literature review analyzing data based on academic research regarding the impacts of screen use on child development; demonstrating the importance of playful activities for child development; and presenting correct suggestions for appropriate use of screens and technological resources in childhood. As for methodology, it is a qualitative approach research, exploratory type, and nature of bibliographic review. As results, we found three academic studies dedicated to the topic. It is concluded that screen exposure is a factor that interferes with children’s development, but a viable solution is to incorporate technological devices into their playful activities.
