Abstract:
The oxidation process leads, in several cases to the degradation of the materials that are
under an oxide layer produced. It can be affirmed, that the development of the oxide system
depends on several factors: atmosphere oxidizer, mechanical properties of the oxide and of
the metal and presence of tensions in the process When the oxide is a composed with
several layers, the presence of a system with inter-relations physical-chemistries and
mechanical is verified and more complex. That is the system found in several industrial
processes or even when several materials, above all the metals and ferrous leagues, when
the same ones are placed in use, resultant of the oxidation process. The knowledge of the
influence of such processes individually and of the relationship of the group of remains the
properties and morphology of the oxide layer, constituted of many layers, needs to be
certain. It is treated of an element of significant importance for the understanding of the
oxidation process of any systems receptive of degradation through referred phenomenon,
that constitutes the essence of this work.
