Abstract:
In periods of pandemics and epidemics, the difficulties of efficiently managing health resources increase. Therefore, mathematical and computational solutions that result in a better use of resources become relevant. In this perspective, the main objective of this study is the construction of an algorithm that allows the efficient allocation of professionals for surgical procedures, based on the competences and preferences of the specialists, and respecting the hospital demand restrictions. For this, a biphasic algorithm composed of two heuristics was built using the VBA programming language, in the first phase a greedy heuristic is used and in the second the local search heuristic. The algorithm was applied in two real hospitals and the results found were satisfactory, allowing the tool to be used as a support for decision making in hospital management. It should also be noted that in more than 85% of cases, employees were assigned to sectors that had grades between medium and high, which results in an improvement in well-being, personal/professional satisfaction and the promotion of more insurance, with workload balance.
