Résumé:
Bromeliaceae Juss. constitutes one of the main families of neotropical monocots,
comprising 3,680 species. In Brazil, it is represented by 54 genera and 1,392 species,
associated with all phytogeographical domains in the country. Of the total
Bromeliaceae recorded for the Brazilian flora, 23 genera and 1,192 species are
considered endemic to the country. In the Caatinga, the bromeliad species that are
established are drought tolerant and grow in nutrient-poor substrates. The general
objective of this work is to carry out a floristic-taxonomic survey of Bromeliaceae and
an area of Caatinga, thus contributing to expanding knowledge of the flora of the
family in question for the flora of Paraíba. The material was collected from August
2020 to July 2022, in more preserved areas of the municipality. The collection
methodology until the incorporation of the collected material followed the usuais
standards used in works of this nature and incorporated into the Herbarium collection
of the Education and Health Center - HCES. Nine species belonging to three
subfamilies were recorded: Bromelioideae (Bromelia laciniosa Mart. ex Schult. &
Schult. f., B. karatas L., Neoglaziovia variegata (Arruda) Mez., Aechmea aquilega
(Salisb.) Griseb.), Tillandsioideae (Tillandsia recurvata (L.) L., T. loliacea Mart. ex.
Schult. & Schult.f., T. polystachia (L.) L., T. streptocarpa Baker) and Pitcairnioideae
(Dyckia spectabilis (Mart. ex Schult. & Schult.f.) Baker). The genus with the greatest
species richness was Tillandsia (4 spp.), followed by Bromelia (2 spp.). Descriptions,
comments on the geographic distribution, survey and comparisons of the family's
diversity in areas are presented similar ones from other municipalities in Paraíba and
surrounding states and identification keys for the species.
