Resumo:
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women around the world and still has a high mortality rate, with a high incidence in women aged 50 to 60 years, for this reason breast cancer is today considered a major global public health problem. Given this, early detection in Brazil has been included in public health policies, with primary care being the main responsible for developing health promotion actions that aim to track risk factors and develop actions that encourage change of the lifestyle. The present study is an integrative review that aims to understand the limitations experienced by the nursing team in primary care that make breast cancer screening and early diagnosis difficult. The sources consulted were SciELO, BVS, LILACS and Ministry of Health. The objectives were to describe the challenges faced by the nursing team in primary care that make breast cancer screening and early diagnosis difficult, identify the greatest difficulties faced by the nursing team in the implementation of health education measures in primary care and accessible to the population according to recommendations; points of reflection on the lack of knowledge, trusted by the nursing team, on prevention measures and diagnoses in a vulnerable population and identifying mechanisms to combat myths and misinformation related to breast cancer, in large campaigns to combat cancer. At the end of our study, we can see the potential of working with health education in the promotion, prevention and coping with diseases, with primary care being an ideal setting for the development of these educational activities, as well as providing the importance of developing continuing education with nursing professionals, with greater investments in the development of specific training such as screening and coping actions against breast cancer.
