Resumen:
The theme of this research involves the use of new technological tools such as video games, which are in constant technical evolution, as a teaching methodology. The present research aims to show how video games and their technical evolution over time, can be capable of not only entertaining or being a leisure tool, but can also be used as a methodology to teach, both in the classroom as outside of it. It is from bibliographical references such as articles and books that this work is formed to demonstrate how the assertiveness of this teaching methodology is capable of helping with the content seen in the classroom. When talking about new teaching methodologies, we can note the variety of ways that can be found to make the traditional teaching method less evident. In this research, certain alternatives will be demonstrated for using other means to create content (or aggregate), to better involve students and their realities in an interactive way. These are alternative media: board games, music and films. Finally, we will arrive at the main topic of this research: video games. Specifically, an electronic game will be chosen to demonstrate its tools and how it is possible to find geography within this game, finally giving the indication that real concepts are used to be recreated within the game. This, together with the mediation of a teacher, can prove to be a promising tool when teaching geographic content.
