Résumé:
The literature has been acting in the historiographical know in recent decades, a great
influence. Discussions about the history and literature show that the historian and writer have in
common traits with respect to the production of their works. Accordingly, the buildings on the
female universe deserve attention in the historiography and literary works, since the marriage
shall be understood as part of the woman's life and its absence is shown as a "mockery", an order
imposed by a patriarchal society. In addition to singles is represented as a world surrounded by
frustrations and dreams stopped. From the literary discourse is possible to hold an examination of
the female condition in the nineteenth century, as the writer, establishing from a social place,
images for this type of woman. The literary work by being surrounded by values and ideology
guides the historian to see it as an instrument to be used in their research.
