Resumen:
The main objective of this work is to analyze the use of mind maps as a methodological strategy in Geography teaching. As main object of study, mind maps are a feature of
presentation and visual systematization of themes, which allows the stimulation of the learning of didactic content taught in Geography classes. It presents how this feature can be applied in Geography classes, as an innovative teaching practice, being an active methodology that seeks and values the student protagonism. The target
audience in this study are 8th grade students from João Izidro de Sousa school in Cachoeira dos Índios/PB. The development of the research was based on an experimental procedure to present the effectiveness of this methodology, which correlates creativity and learning. This study has as research methodology a qualitative approach based on an experimental procedure and the application of a questionnaire, in order to analyze the benefits of the mind maps feature in Geography teaching. The obtained results were satisfactory, as from the application of this resource, its effectiveness was verified as an active methodology for assimilating Geography subjects.
