Resumo:
The free trade fairs are the most traditional forms of food marketing, being a mobile commerce with circulation in several urban regions characterized by the great production of solid waste. Thus, it is important to highlight that the knowledge of the fairgrounds about the management and legislation of solid waste can considerably reduce the generation of waste in this environment. Therefore, this work aims to present how the fair of the municipality of Sousa-PB are managing the solid waste from the free fairs and the knowledge of the same on this topic. The methodology used in the exploratory research, with a quantitative-descriptive character and as a procedure method, was conducted a field research through a closed questionnaire and structured as a research instrument with the purpose of tabulating data through alternatives defined by the researcher. It was observed in the scientific work that the responsibility for cleaning in the free fairs is exclusive of the city's municipal government, and there is no incentive for the fairs to perform some practice of collecting or sorting their garbage, besides having observed and heard reports of the own where there is no garbage dump anywhere in the fair.
