Abstract:
This work aims to present female testimonies to the fight against the military dictatorship.
In this way, the research focused on approaching the experiences and life stories of
women such as Dirce Machado, Amélia Teles and Rosalina de Santa Cruz who resisted
oppression, silently, having rarely been recognized by society as historical subjects. The
testimonial history written in books today has a great role in denouncing and enforcing
the right to memory of groups that are still barely visible in the Brazilian public scene,
including women, where they are often seen as outsiders in the political space. The
theoretical perspective to be used is centered on New Political History, focusing on the
contributions that History and memory bring, and has the 20th century as its context. We
used as main documentary sources the reports of the National Truth Commission and
Funda§äo Getiilio Vargas, as well as supporting materials with theoretical references such
as the studies that will be analyzed in order to understand what the period in question
meant for women.
