Abstract:
This article was produced as a requirement for obtaining the degree of Specialist by the Postgraduate Program in Nature Teaching and Mathematics for Coexistence with Semiarid, developed in the Center for Semiarid Development - CDSA of the Federal University of Campina Grande - UFCG. Today, with the influence of digital media, especially the internet, people have been increasingly driven to unbridled consumerism and indebtedness, often reflecting the lack of consolidated financial education. Considering this and the financial reality of our region, we present some reflections on the need to work on Financial Education since elementary school, so that young people start to become aware early on of aspects that permeate their financial reality. Starting from this, we developed a survey in a class of the 9th Year of a Municipal School in the rural area of the municipality of Monteiro - PB,whose objective was to make possible through an immersion in Financial Education, the construction of goals that help the young students of that locality to seek better conditions through the financial organization, can awaken the understanding for the construction of the family financial planning, for example. The results showed that students were able to understand aspects related to money within their family's budget, and at the same time were able to identify how Financial Education can provide improvements in quality of life according to their reality.
