Abstract

The work evaluates the system of production, consumption and flow of crystal sugar in the Northeast because sugar is an important generator of financial resources for the region and has a significant participation in the production of this product in the national scenario. Production is states of Pernambuco and Alagoas, where there is a need to dispose of the product throughout the region, where long distances require a better modal adequacy of production flow. The application of a mathematical model to the current situation pointed to the feasibility of a high production in the states with plants currently deactivated, also identifying the feasibility of a greater participation of the maritime modality in the flow of crystal sugar in the Northeast region.
