Resumo:
It is through Environmental Education (EA) that individuals recognize themselves as an integral part of the environment and become able to promote sustainable development in their actions. Through EA, the importance of building critical, integrated, and reflective thinking about environmental issues stands out, making it possible to mitigate the damage caused by human practices. The research aimed to map and describe the actions that promote environmental education in the teaching-learning process of Environmental Agents in the municipality of Serra Branca – PB, as well as, describe the importance of including environmental education as an instrument of action in the formation of citizens who are aware and knowledgeable about their commitment to sustainable development. The research is within the scope of qualitative research and involved seven (07) students who functioned as Environmental Agents, who were subjected to theoretical and practical activities. The activities were developed over a period of six (06) months, based on the experiences of those involved and in accordance with the responsibilities of the Secretariat itself. Data production occurred through observations and reports of experience during the actions performed. It was found that the participants' knowledge about EA, prior to the course, was limited, which means that Environmental Education is still little studied and/or worked on in the school and social environment.
