Resumen:
Studies about the modalities of sailboat have provided signiicant contributions in the planning of actions and work to practitioners and trainers. Thus, the purpose of this research was to analyze the theoretical and methodological characteristics of studies with the practice of sailing. A systematic search of
MEDLINE/PubMed, LILACS and SciELO electronics databases was conducted using combinations of the
following key words: “sailing”, “sailors”, “sport sailing”, “yacht”, “yachting” in Portuguese and English. The
search included original studies published between 2000 and 2009. A total of 26 articles were identiied
from searching the databases. Twenty articles were selected, of which 40% wore the descriptive method, 25% were cross-sectional design and 70% of the analyzed articles relied on clinical examinations.
Moreover, we identiied 55% of the studies showed the physiological responses and the Windsuring
and Laser classes were the most highlighted. The review showed that the sport sailing has been discussed by several prisms directing the quantitative analysis.
