In Discursive Semiotics, the category of time is studied in the Discursive Syntax of The Generative Path of Meaning. Temporalization is one of the three categories that make up the instance of enunciation and the statement. In light of this, this research aims to analyze how
linguistic and chronological time manifest itself in the chronicle A vontade do falecido, by Stanislaw Ponte Preta, in order to propose a workshop applicable to the 9th grade of Elementary School. To achieve this, we discuss concepts about discursive semiotics with emphasis on the time of enunciation and of the statement; we outline important aspects about the chronicle;
analyzed the time of enunciation in the statement of the chronicle; and we developed a workshop as an intervention proposal for the 9th grade of Elementary School. This research is based, above all, on the theorical contributions of Discursive Semiotics with Greimas (1989), that proposes a path that generates meaning; and in studies of Brazilians such as Fiorin (2021), Barros (2005), and Lima (2007), which presents contributions about this path; we present the foundations of the theory of enunciation proposed by Émile Beneviste (1976); we seek studies of chronicle genre with Massaud Moisés (2003), José Castello (2007), Afrânio Coutinho (1967) among others authors, in order to present information related to the origin of the chronicle and its insertion in Brazilian literary culture. The methodology is discourse analysis and the corpus approach is qualitative. Within a universe of 20 (twenty) chronicles read, the chronicle A
vontade do falecido, by Stanislaw Ponte Preta was selected as a corpus. The category of analysis is the temporality present in the selected corpus. The results showed the proof that, predominantly, the chronicle presents as enuncive shifting out, creating an effect of distancing from the enunciation. Thus, the time of the chronicle stems from the idea of statement with the then in dialogue with the now of enunciation; next to the then, we also find a now, when the enunciator delegates voice to Sr. Irineu, for example. Additionally, as a result, we developed a workshop to work on the time of the statement in the 9th grade of Elementary School.
