Résumé:
Reading is a subject of constant discussion among researchers and teachers that research
argues that the act of reading goes beyond the simple decoding of written text, and is therefore
the act of assigning meanings. In this context, the aim of this research is to report on an
internship experience in municipal schools in the city of Marizópolis-PB, as a teacher in
training in the area of Languages - Portuguese Language. To this end, we discuss the reading
process with an emphasis on strategies; we describe the internship experience in the area of
Portuguese Language, focusing on reading in the final years; and we reflect on the problems
described in the report. In order to foster discussions, the research is based mainly on the
studies of Kleiman (1999), Solé (1998), Koch and Elias (2013) with regard to conceptions of
reading and strategies for training proficient readers; and Fávero and Koch (2005) who
present concepts of text. We also considered the National Common Core Curriculum (BNCC),
which provides a basis for reading and its strategies. The methodology of this work
corresponds to the ex-post-facto type and has a qualitative approach. The results of the
research show that reading strategies can bring positive changes to Portuguese language
teaching. In addition, the importance of the internship for the training of teachers in this area
was highlighted, as it provides new perspectives on teaching reading through what was
observed in the classroom and how important textual comprehension is for the social life.
